Dr Jimmy Eteuati

Dr Jimmy Eteuati started private practice in 2014. He has also been a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at the Lyell McEwin Hospital since 2014.

His goal is to always provide a high standard of care to his patients, whilst delivering that with the latest up to date advanced surgical techniques. 

He manages all colorectal conditions, general surgical conditions, major bowel conditions, including endoscopy and colonoscopy.

Jimmy completed his medical degree at the University of Tasmania in 2000. After working in Samoa for 3 years he returned to Launceston, Tasmania where he completed his Basic Surgical Training at the Launceston General Hospital. Jimmy completed his Advanced Surgical Training at The Alfred Hospital, in Melbourne and was successful in acquiring his fellowship in General Surgery (FRACS) in February 2011.

Jimmy went on to complete the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) training in Colorectal Surgery and he is now an Ordinary Member, with colorectal fellowship years at Royal Melbourne Hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre. 

Jimmy also completed a Masters of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Adelaide in 2016. He has performed over 200 cases using the Da Vinci robot and was the first to perform a robotic colorectal procedure in South Australia.

He has also been active in humanitarian work especially in Samoa. He volunteered his services during the aftermath of the 2009 tsunami and Measles outbreak in 2019. He normally travels back to Samoa frequently to offer his surgical services to assist surgical colleagues in Samoa. This however has been difficult due to Covid.

Jimmy is a rugby enthusiast and spends most of the time watching and mainly driving his children around to play rugby. He enjoys a good book or a good movie.

General surgery conditions – inguinal hernias, umbilical hernias, femoral hernias, incisional hernias, gallbladder problems.

An expert colonoscopist accredited by GESA and deals with many patients undergoing the Bowel Cancer Screening Program. Provides endoscopy and colonoscopy service.
